{"id":5,"date":"2010-11-20T09:44:36","date_gmt":"2010-11-19T23:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.1.100\/wordpress\/?p=5"},"modified":"2021-12-31T00:03:40","modified_gmt":"2021-12-30T14:03:40","slug":"home-cocktail-arcade-cabinet-part-2-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/simmohacks.com\/wordpress\/2010\/11\/20\/home-cocktail-arcade-cabinet-part-2-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Home Cocktail Arcade Cabinet &#8211; Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the late 1970&#8217;s, I spent a lot of time and money playing Space Invaders in a little arcade at Holland Village in Singapore.\u00a0 In 2009, I wanted to relive those days by building a MAME arcade cabinet, and after a lot of researching the net for ideas, commenced building.<\/p>\n<p>I chose a cocktail style cabinet over a normal stand up as that was mostly what I played and enjoyed in those early days.\u00a0 A lot of the style and design was borrowed from a website I found here at <a href=\"http:\/\/members.iinet.net.au\/~things\/ihs\/cocktail\/index.html\">The Cocktail Lounge<\/a>. Before starting I needed to gather a few bits and pieces, especially the monitor, to ensure it would fit with the dimensions I had chosen.<\/p>\n<p>I managed to come across a Compaq V720 monitor and my boss had an old Intel PIII PC he was selling at the time. holes for speakers &amp; a fan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>By the time these pictures were taken, I had already bought the joysticks, buttons and keyboard controller from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ozstick.com.au\/\">OzStick<\/a>.\u00a0 The speakers had been chosen and bought, and all the other accessories needed to make the cut outs necessary at the woodworking cabinet, as it was starting to weight a lot, and with the monitor in the box, needed two people to lift the sucker.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t own a welder, so I thought I would seek out a welding shop to make the legs for me.\u00a0 I drew up a design and the shop told me $200.\u00a0 We&#8217;re talking a couple bits of square tube and some bolts.\u00a0 Bah, I decided to do it myself.\u00a0 I bought the tubing and borrowed a welder from a mate, and after a couple of test runs, was ready to go.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12\" style=\"width: 840px\" painting, I used auto body filler to smooth out the welding and grinding marks.\u00a0 They actually came up quite a bit better that I thought they would.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14\"
